Back in training, Canberra
January 26th, 2010 by Lisa
Not sure if I am a Canberrian right now? I guess not quite yet as I’m still looking for somewhere to live… It’s a little bit frustrating as it was a lot harder to find that what we initially thought. Our drama is that we need a furnished place for a short lease. Not easy.
Unfortunately it’s things like this that takes a little bit of energy from training. Together with our domestic dramas like a flat scooter battery and an expired rego… jeeze! I realized I either need an admin personnel or a boyfriend… I’m feeling highly unfit after my somewhat interrupted training schedule the past couple of months. Instead of a nice improvement I’m standing in the one spot more going backwards than anywhere else…
The squad is full of people banging out session after session and I sense I frustrating repeat of last year. Well, looking back that did turn out pretty darn good in the end. And I did have a great week back home collecting all these various sport awards.

Everything comes for a price.
You work hard and you do well.
You get a reward.
Or you keep pushing for that next thing around the corner.
When is it time to look back and enjoy what you just did?
That’s why I decided to do the 2×30hr travel and go back to Sweden.
So I know, I shouldn’t moan about my unfitness.
And I definitely shouldn’t stress about it.
But still it’s annoying.
Or, I just really miss being what I like most, fit.

You are so right!
I am sure that this year will be no exception. Maybe these interruptions and the “unfitness” gives you some special motivation that makes you work even harder than you would have otherwise.
It seems like a good tradition for you to have a break every year, whether you have chosen it yourself or not
Nice to see you among the nominees for best female last Monday. Great job considering that Triathlon is such a small sport here. I am afraid that Helena Jonsson is going to win a lot of awards the coming years, since Sweden seems to be completely in love with Biathlon now. She is a great athlete too, of course.
I understand your frustration about losing your fitness. I am trying to find time to get back on track, since I am running Broloppet (21 km) in June. I have bought a spinning bike that I am using in my garage, but I have a long way back to fitness. I have no endurance and no legs compared to six months ago.
Can’t wait for spring to come so I can start running again. I also can’t wait until my graduation from the teacher programme next January. Imagine all the free time I will have then, to do sports again like before
Good luck with the preseasonal training!
