Training at the Big Island

So I guess most people come here with one thing in mind.
To prepare – and race one of the most grueling races in the world.

The IronMan World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

I’m here to,but of a completey different reason.

To make it clear, because I had a few questions on this matter in over the past week.

NO I won’t be racing in Kona.

And NO I’m not here to research the course for next year.

I’m here as a step in my preparation for the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in Auckland the 20th of October.

My coach Darren is here to coach a few pros in IronMan race. Our massage therapist Rick is here to work on them.

Hawaii is not too far away from neither Japan (where I raced last week) or New Zeeland.

So in one way it made sense.

But I guess the most deciding factors of them all – was the inspiration and motivation this place offers.

It’s late in the season, and we acknowledged that keeping the drive and the will to train – will be one of the deciding factors for a good race in Auckland.

So here I am.

In triathlon paradise being surrounded with athletes on their absolute peak fitness gearing up for the race of their lives.

It’s amazing to watch.

And yes, very inspiring.

Training is going well.
