Wilson Kipketer and a hand shake
November 29th, 2009 by Lisa
It’s not every day you get to shake the great Wilson Kipketer’s hand. And it’s not every day you get to see the likes of Asbel Kiprop running around on a grass field. So I guess today was a pretty big day.
I also heard a rumour that Isabella Andersson was in the field but I never got to meet her in person. Iabella is probably the highest ranked Swedish runner right now and racing for a Stockholm’s club.  As she actually is Kenyan (married Swedish) she wasn’t easy to pick out from the field as you might have thought.
I was very happy that my task of the day was to study the skill and technique of the great runners and not to be in the race shoes myself. I would have felt like a very small fish in a very big pond. I probably would have suffered a minor heart attack after the initial sprint from the gun, just thinking of running max effort on 2100m heights makes me feel dizzy.Â
We now had a week at the Kipkeino IAAF High altitude centre and we are getting closer to the next step of the trip. We will travel a little further up in the mountains to Iten and Lorna Kiplagat’s training centre where I will spend another week before making my way back home.
I am learning much about running and the philosophy about running, and never been more motivated to get fit and into some decent work.
